New Browsing Boxes and Counting Money!!

What a busy Wednesday it was in second grade! Charlie started us off with a fantastic meeting. He really woke us up with Rockin Robin, and the Spongebob greeting was.... very unexpected! We worked on math vocabulary in handwriting again today, and practiced our fraction words by rainbow writing them. Very colorful... lots of great work everyone! We practiced writing in our dialogue journals in writing work shop (and you could have heard a pin drop)!! Very focused and quite a variety of writing... fiction, feelings, pictures, and even a fairy tale or two! Nice work! Work board was quite busy as well, as Ms. Worthley met with readers and students focused on working independently in all the new literacy centers. We added some new browsing boxes to our quiet reading choices, and they are already very popular! Winter/Snowy books and Martin Luther King books have already been in the hands of many second grade readers today!
Ms. Weinberger joined us for some fraction review, and a rousing game of Heads or Tails! Students worked in teams and counted their coins together (keeping track of how many coins landed on heads, and how many on tails)! After all that coin counting, students practiced writing money using the dollar sign, and there were many quarters to count today! We're talkin' BIG MONEY!!! Well done second graders! Practice makes perfect, and we LOVE to practice counting our money!
We ended the day in PE (whew) and started another game of Zelda (to be continued)! See you all tomorrow morning!
