Welcome December Monday!!

Howdy Friends! What a beautiful day! Great start for a busy day in second grade! We started with work board and literacy centers! David held a great morning meeting and Madelene held her first math meeting of the week! Well done meeting leaders! In math we practiced counting tens by adding tens and subtracting tens. Using what we know about skip counting by tens and using our hundreds charts, we practiced counting up and down! Not as easy as it sounds, but great counting practice! In word study we learned our new spelling rule, long e vowel sound, and how using ee together and ea together make the sound! When two vowels go a walkin', the first one does the talkin'! In the afternoon we continued our lesson on persuasive writing in writing workshop and worked on our top secret writing project. Students reread and added important ideas to their persuasive writing pieces, and we can't wait to share our writing on Wednesday! Why Wednesday? That will be Mr. Jarzembowski's last day in 2W and we plan to surprise him! He's been an important part of our classroom community, and we wish him all the best on his journey to becoming a professional educator! We'll miss you Mr. J.!
